The Kit Room: Match the Shirts
Every locker opens for three seconds. Remember where each shirt hangs, then find the pairs in as few moves as you can.

Every locker opens for a few seconds. Remember where the shirts hang, then find the pairs. Tap any locker to start. The shirts carry the colours of the bookmakers on our racecard, so a round is also a quick look at who is on the card. Fewer moves earn a better title, from Squad player up to the Captain's armband, and your best score stays on this device only. It is a free game of memory, with no stakes and no prizes.

How to play the Kit Room
Press Open the kit room and every locker swings open for three seconds. That is your only look at the whole room, so use it. The lights flicker, the doors close, and the game begins. Open any two lockers. If the shirts match, both doors stay open and the locker lights up gold. If they do not, the doors close again after a short pause and you try another pair.
The game ends when every shirt has found its partner. A results card shows your moves, your time and your best score for that level. Play again shuffles the shirts into new lockers, so remembering the last game will not help you in the next one.
A move counts every time you open a second locker, whether or not it makes a pair. The perfect Warm-up game is six moves, one per pair, and it is harder than it sounds once the doors are shut.
Three levels, three kinds of memory
The levels get harder in different ways rather than simply adding lockers.
| Level | Pairs | What makes it harder |
|---|---|---|
| Warm-up | 6 | Nothing much: six shirts in clearly different colours |
| Matchday | 8 | Two navy shirts with similar trims sit in the mix |
| Captain | 10 | All ten shirts, each with a squad number to remember |
Warm-up is the version on our homepage. It is short enough to play while a page loads and long enough to feel like a challenge if you go for a perfect score.
Matchday adds two shirts that share a colour. Your eye will want to group the two navy shirts together, and that is exactly where most extra moves come from. Look for the trim and the pattern, not the colour.
Captain uses every shirt in the kit room and prints a squad number on each one. The numbers are the same for both shirts in a pair, so they help if you remember them and cost you if you only remember the colour.
Tips for fewer moves
Most players try to remember the whole room during the three-second preview, and most players forget most of it. A better approach is to pick one row and learn it properly. Three or four shirts you are sure of beat twelve you half remember.
When the game starts, open lockers you have not seen yet rather than guessing at ones you think you know. Every new locker you open gives you information. A guess at a locker you half remember usually gives you nothing.
Say the shirts to yourself as you open them: “red stripe, top left; star, bottom right”. Linking a shirt to a position with words is one of the oldest memory tricks there is, and it works better than staring.
On Matchday and Captain, ignore colour first and look at the pattern. Hoops, a sash, a star, a diamond, a chevron and stripes are easier to tell apart than two shades of navy.
Why a memory game on a betting site?
Most of this site is about checking things carefully before you sign up anywhere: the licence tracker, the terms of each welcome offer, who really owns a brand. That is serious, useful work, and this page is a short break from it. The shirts are the same ones we use across the site to tell bookmakers apart in our list of best new betting sites, so the game doubles as a way to get to know them.
The Kit Room has no stakes, no prizes, no leaderboard and no link to any bookmaker. It is a game of memory for adults visiting a site about betting. If you are looking for something to do instead of betting, that is a good instinct, and our responsible gambling page lists free support in the UK. If you want to check the maths of a bet you have already placed, the bet calculator is the tool for that.
Accessibility
Every locker is a button you can reach with the keyboard and open with Enter or Space. A screen reader announces when the lockers open for the preview, when they close, when you find a pair and when the game ends with your score. If you prefer reduced motion, the doors open and close without the swinging animation and the preview lasts a little longer. The game does not rely on colour alone, because every shirt also has its own pattern.

Is the Kit Room free to play?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no deposit, no stake and no prize. It is a short memory game, and nothing you do in it is connected to a betting account.
How is my score worked out?
Your score is the number of moves, where one move is opening two lockers. Fewer moves is better. The clock is shown for interest, but it does not decide your best score.
Where is my best score saved?
In your own browser, on this device only. Nothing is sent to us. If your browser blocks storage, the game still works but forgets your best score when you leave.
What is the difference between the three levels?
Warm-up has six pairs of clearly different shirts. Matchday adds two more, including two navy shirts that are easy to confuse. Captain uses all ten shirts and adds squad numbers, so you have to remember the number as well as the pattern.
Can I play with a keyboard?
Yes. Use Tab to move between lockers and Enter or Space to open one. A screen reader hears each locker's state and an announcement when a pair is found or the game ends.
Are the shirts real club kits?
No. They are generic shirt designs made for this site with AI image tools, which is why they carry an AI label. They do not belong to any club, league or brand.
